(Pre-)Ordering
As explained on the main post, there are two ATW800/2 variants available: Either Mega-ST or VME-bus (Mega-STE & TT).
To make production easier I dropped the “no TRAM” option, which means from the 2nd batch on, all cards are now fitted with a Transputer Links interface so you can plug in 2 Transputer Modules (aka TRAM) and/or connect a Transputer farm externally.
This simplifies the pricelist:
Mega ST+T | 200€ |
VME+T | 190€ |
We still consider these prices to be very “power without the price“ish and given I’m not a business but just an Atari enthusiast, I will not make profits from this.
The 1st batch showed that even having most of the card pre-populated at the PCB shop, the ‘vintage’ and through-hole parts have to manually populated. This results in about an hour of work per card(!). Yes, that did surprise me, too.
Beyond that, every extra Euro will go into the creation of next projects 😉
Also for the waitlist I will initially, for fairness sake, accept orders for just one card per person.
I know, many of you have more than one Atari and like to enhance them all. That way as many users as possible can get their hands on a card.
But you can add your interest for a 2nd card which I will take into account if there are slots left when shipping will start.
Shipping
It’s 2025 and shipping prices are just exploding. I am shipping from Germany as trackable package only.
Also I chose the box dimensions that way, that it snugly fits into DHLs shipping categories. It weights about 250 grams (that’s 0.55lbs or 8.8oz or 0.039 stone – no idea what’s that converted to Ningi 😉 )
Shipping into the European Union is relatively affordable with 15€ (Just in case, for Germany it’ll be 7€ as “DHL Paket”)
UK and Switzerland will be 20€ then.
Sadly the USA is currently (Sept. 2025) completely unpredictable. Random tariffs and taxes changing on a weekly basis led to total shipping(-price) chaos. At the moment DHL stopped all shipping to the USA except presents below a value of $100 (85€).
Before you ask: Those presents will be subject to intense inspection by US customs to make sure no one is sneaking in commercial goods. The risk is on your side… things are just #verycomplicated.
You got what (most of) you voted for 😕.
Canada, Australia and Japan can choose between 27€ if you’re patient(*) or a whopping 48€ which will be priority shipping – lately I made the experience that the 50€ isn’t worth it. It’s not that much faster than the cheaper one.
*) I had shipping times from 10 to a hefty 60 days. Totally random, no idea what influenced the one or the other.
Other countries, please contact me – I’ll check for the cheapest solution.
If there are import taxes applied in your country, that’s up to you to pay these. Sorry, that’s how it works – not like the some people think.
The waitlist
No, there’s no 3rd batch scheduled yet… but if you like, you can register for the waitlist, which will turn into the 3rd batch some fine day when I recovered from the solder fumes of the 2nd 😉
Just send an email to
ATW800waitlist@geekdot.com
and I will add you to the list when time allows (it’s a manual process and I’m on vacation until end of August).
In your mail please provide the following information:
- Full name
- Shipping address
- ATW800/2 variant [Mega-ST or VME]
- (optional for VME) 3D printed slot-cover (bezel) +5€
- (optional) second card variant if available
- (optional) Nickname to be used in the wait-list on geekdot.com – else the full name will be used
You do not need to leave a down payment. As soon as production and shipping starts, I will announce that in the known forums as well as contact those on the list asking if you’re still interested.
Should you have changed your mind then, I’ll ask the next one in line. Please answer within 48hrs, else I will also ask the next in line.
Status chain is:
CONTACTED ( & INVOICE SENT) -> PAID -> READY (to ship) -> SHIPPED (you will get an email with tracking URL)

Mega ST+T, please!
Hello si j amais il y as une 2 ème cuisson je serais preneur pour 1 carte video pour le mega ste
Quel dommage d avoir loupé votre série.
Please – Add me to the waiting list for Batch #2…
Mega-ST
There’s no list for the 2nd batch yet. Please watch the usual places (atari-forum, atari-home, atariage) for an announcement when a new batch is due.
I didn’t originally have a Mega ST, but managed to resurrect one from a motherboard only, so now I’m definitely interested in batch #2, if it does get produced. I’ll try to follow the forums for the announcement, but would appreciate if you could drop a note here as well so I’ll get an e-mail notification…
I’m replying to this comment as a “template” to all other comments of this kind:
PLEASE do not enquire for the 2nd batch here. I can not track 5 different places in the web, compare time-stamps and contact everyone in a different manner (PM, mail, FAX, pidgeon).
I will announce the next batch on atari-forum.com. This time giving a date & time when the list opens. You will then find an email-address where you can send your registration to.
Thank you for your understanding.
Hello, I would like to be put on the waiting list. Who should I write to and how do I do it?
MegaST+T
Best regards
Zirkumflex
It’s the same as pre-ordering (described in the linked forum thread).
That said, it’s not clear when I will start a 3rd batch…
Hey there,
I am interested in the VME-Version vor my MEGA STE
Have you read the big read box in my post saying “All slots for the 2nd batch pre-order are taken. Sorry.”
Have you read the comment above yours (and my reply to it) about getting on the waitlist?
First of all, kudos for your commitment—it’s a really great project.
Hmmm, yes, I read that the second batch is sold out. Unfortunately, I’m not active on atari-forum.com, so I would probably miss any announcements about a third batch. I also can’t find a pre-order list?!
Now that the 3rd batch is sold out, I’ve updated this page to provide a waitlist and an email you can send your inquiry to.
I have tried emailing atw4me@geekdot.com to be put on the waiting list, but email bounced as mailbox doesnt exist.
Is there another way to register interest?
Yes, read the instructions on this page 😉
(I change the registration mail address for each batch to make sorting easier)
Hi, please let me know, where can I order one card for my TT ? I have lost all the threads and have not ordered yet.
Thank you.
Did you read the part on this page with the header “The waitlist”?
It’s all explained there…
